FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Do I have to sign a contract?
A: At Sanders Ground Essentials, a handshake & your word is all we need. You are free to cancel at any time. However, we believe that if you stay with our program, you will see great results. Our service is continuous and automatically rolls over from year to year. If you move or need to cancel for some other reason, you must contact us to stop the service or change the service location.
Q: How can I get my FREE estimate?
A: You can call the office and request a time for us to meet with you in person, or we can come by and leave the information on your door.
Q: What does a weed control and fertilization program cost?
A: All of our prices are based on the square footage of the turf you want to be treated. Prices start as low as $35 per application.
Q: What are your office hours?
A: Our office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM CST Monday - Friday.
Q: Are the applications safe for my children and pets?
A: All of our applications equal or exceed EPA safety standards. You will receive a call ahead one day prior to each application to allow for planning. When each application is performed, the technician will leave application instructions including recommendations for how long we recommend children and pets stay off of the lawn.
Q: Do I have to be home when you are there?
A: Not at all. You will receive a call ahead one day prior to each application to allow for planning. The technician will leave a notice on the door which includes application instructions.
Q: How many times per year do you come out?
A: The number of applications depends on the service plan you choose. When you choose Sanders Ground Essentials as your weed control provider, we will customize the program to fit your specific needs. Once you have chosen your treatment program, we will not add any additional applications without your consent.
Q: How often/when do you come out?
A: Generally each treatment round is 6-8 weeks apart; however, this may vary depending on the specific program you choose. As with most outdoor services, our schedule is always dependent on weather conditions.
Q: Can you treat weeds in the flowerbeds?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot treat flowerbeds. Flowers and ornamentals are just too sensitive to the weed control materials, and we do not want to risk damaging any of your plants. We do offer a tree/shrub program to help protect your landscape from insect and disease damage and to promote plant health and growth.
Q: Do you offer a referral discount?
A: Most of our customers come from referrals from other happy customers, and we appreciate that very much! If you refer someone and they choose Sanders Ground Essentials as their weed control and fertilization provider, you will receive a $25 credit on your account. Just give our office a call and let us know about the referral. We love to hear from our customers!
Q: What if I have a concern with my treatment?
A: We love to hear from our customers! Anytime there is a concern with your lawn, please let us know. If we do not know there is a problem, we can't fix it. We will be happy to send a technician out to reevaluate your lawn at no charge.
Q: When will I see results?
A: There are multiple factors that affect the results. If you are a new weed control and fertilization customer and have not previously had weed control program, it may take several treatments to improve the health and appearance of your turf. For existing customers who are on a consistent weed control and fertilization program, results are typically noticeable within 10-14 days after an application. As always, if you have questions about your results, please give us a call.
Q: May I take less than the recommended number of applications, perhaps just the weed control?
A: Yes. We will customize a program to fit your specific needs. However, to obtain the optimal results we recommend fertilizing your lawn as well. Defending against weeds begins with a thick, healthy stand of turf which is dependent on fertilization. You may choose to fertilize your lawn yourself.
I just got my application and...
Q: What if it rains right after my application?
A: In most cases, the chemicals will be rainiest in 2 to 6 hours after application. In fact, most applications need to be watered in, so rainfall is beneficial. However, it is optimum to wait 24 hours before watering to allow the turf and weeds sufficient time to uptake the chemicals. Allow 7-10 days to see results. If, after that time period, you do not see changes, please contact our office and we will reassess your lawn.
Q: When should I mow and water?
A: On the day of each application, the technician will leave service instructions specific to that application including recommendations for watering and mowing. Please feel free to contact our office with any other questions you may have.
Q: When can I let my children and pets back on the lawn?
A: You will receive a call ahead one day prior to each application to allow for planning. When each application is performed, the technician will leave application instructions including recommendations for how long we recommend children and pets stay off of the lawn.
Q: Why is there fertilizer on my driveway and patio?
A: We do our best to keep fertilizer off your concrete areas, but you may occasionally find a few granules on your concrete because the commercial spreaders that we use are designed for the best possible coverage. The fertilizer we use will not hurt or stain your concrete.
Q: Why are you doing an application in the winter?
A: Although your lawn may be brown and dormant in January and February and may not have visible weeds, there are weed seeds beneath the surface preparing to germinate. Our pre-emergent application is designed to prevent these from germinating. Once certain weeds (such as crabgrass) germinate, they are extremely difficult to control.
Q: Why are you doing an application when my lawn is brown and I am not able to water?
A: Summer drought can put some nice lawns into premature dormancy, and we understand that it may not always be practical to keep watering. However, even though the lawn appears brown, the root system is still active and still needs caring for, even more so because it is drought-stressed. With ongoing treatments, When the fall rains come, your lawn will recover much more quickly than those that have not been fertilized when the fall rains come. The late summer fertilizer will give it a healthy boost to help protect it against cold weather and freeze damage.
Q: Why do I still have weeds after several treatments?
A: There are many different scenarios that would result in different answers. If you have concerns about your results, please contact our office. We will gladly reevaluate your lawn and make any necessary adjustments.
Q: Will you ever perform treatments outside of the agreed upon service plan?
A: We will NEVER come out and perform any unauthorized supplemental applications without your knowledge and prior approval. If we feel your yard needs an extra or supplemental application due to results from a recent soil test or diagnosed issue, we will contact you to discuss all your options prior to providing any additional applications.
Q: Why did you do 2 or 3 applications at once?
A: Supplemental applications will not be performed without prior approval. At times, supplemental applications may coincide on the schedule with your regular application.
